	Customer Reviews: Average Rating: Rating : - Not as tasty as Nutiva After enjoying the 54 ounce size of Nutiva VCO I decided I'd give Tropical Traditions a try and went for the one gallon size. Yikes! What a difference. Honestly, I LOVE the flavor and scent of coconuts and this product from TT smelled slightly sour and had a soapy undertaste. I was so disappointed that I could not love this product as much as the Nutiva brand. I'm not sure if it's the way they slightly ferment their coconuts with the milk in order to get the oil curds separated. I'm going to try to use this somehow and it's not too bad for cooking with (rice and whatnot) but I'm definitely sticking to the Nutiva brand which I can eat by the spoonfuls raw without feeling like I'm going to gag. Did I get an old batch from TT perhaps? I have no idea. Also, the gallon of Gold label oil that was shipped to me from Tropical Traditions had some oil stains on the box and the container of oil was completely liquid and the lid was VERY hard to remove (my husband had to wrench it open for me after cutting off the little attachment bits around it) but whatever you do be sure to refrigerate your oil for an hour or two before attempting lid removal or you're going to have a big ol' oily mess because as soon as I heard that oil sloshing around in the pail I knew better than to try and remove the lid until I cooled it enough to become solidified. I gave this three stars because maybe this brand does have some superior health benefits that will make me feel better even if it tastes funky. So I'm going to keep gagging it down and hope for the best and it might be fine for baking with so I'll try that too. Tropical Traditions' body lotion and teeth cleaner was wonderful, I must say but if you're planning on investing in this much coconut oil and have never tried this brand before I'd definitely suggest trying a smaller size first. + See Full Customer Review
